Malaysian Writers Society (MyWriters)
More recently, I’ve become a committee member of the Malaysian Writer’s Society.
If you have an interest in writing and are based in Malaysia then you are welcome to join.
From time to time I share the activities here.
One of the reasons for me getting interested in writing is this quote:
“People remember stories”
I think I must have read this somewhere or heard someone mention it while watching a video or something.
I can’t remember the exact person, if you do some googling you will find that many people have said the same thing.
Take some time to think about it. I’m sure you will agree ?
Location Independent Entreprenuership
Ever since reading The Four Hour Work Week I have discovered the advent of the “Digital Nomad”
These are individuals who able to do work or run a business from anywhere in the world (as long as there is an internet connection).
I’ve started to make connections with some of them based around the South East Asia (SEA) region. The main reason why SEA is ideal for Digital Nomads is due to the lower cost of living. At the time of writing, Chiang Mai in Thailand and Bali in Indonesia seem to be the top destinations, but cities such as Kuala Lumpur and Penang are catching up.
It’s interesting and I think it’s the future of working.
Ever since reading “The Power of Less” by Leo Babauta
and “The Magic of Tidying up” by Marie Kondo,
I have started the process of reducing clutter and practicing minimalism.
It wasn’t easy and I still consider myself in the process.
Podcast: The Kal Izad Sembang Show (K.I.S.S.)
I have a podcast where I interview some of the interesting people that I have met and learn from their experiences.
Since you have read until here, let me share with you a little more about my origin story.
Sometime ago I was at a pretty low point in my life with no job and having less than 3 dollars in my hand. Even though I felt a bit of frustration and disappointment during this time, I wouldn’t say I was unhappy.
I kind of enjoyed having time to myself to reflect on things and enjoyed cooking as well. One of the highlights of the day was having enough money to go out and buy the day’s newspaper. I would read it cover to cover. One day in the Metro section there was a guy offering a 50 cent seminar. He talked about things like NLP and Mind Power and Subconcious stuff. Basically how you can use your mind to change your life. I went to this seminar and was practically mesmerized by it.
After the seminar I walked up to the speaker and told him about my situation. He told me to use the words “I’m in the process of…” and every time I scanned for job vacancies in the newspaper to also to say my self, “There is so much opportunity out there..” and so I took his advice and I think about 3 days later I got an interview and about 5 days after that I got a job. It wasn’t just any job, but a job that suited my experience and academic qualifications.
I decided from then on to start investing in personal development and became committed to lifelong learning. I eventually signed up for all the workshops and courses that the trainer offered and eventually become friends with him. Till this day we are still in contact and I meet with him once a year to catch up on life. He has become very successful and has published 6 books now.
One day I was in a Borders bookstore here in KL and while browsing around I walked past a table with a book on it called “Law of Attraction: The Science of Attracting More of What You Want and Less of What You Don’t”. I picked it up and started flipping through the pages. And at one page I read “I’m in the process of..” Then I remembered that was the phrase that I used when I was first looking for a job.
So I bought the book and read it cover to cover and this is how I discovered about Law of Attraction. One year after reading the book I met the author personally when he came to Kuala Lumpur. Two months after that I was on a plane to Vancouver to get trained as a Certified Law of Attraction Facilitator.
There have been so many things that have happened since then. Among them are attracting things such as free laptops, living in a multi-millionaire dollar house and meeting a wonderful woman. Not only for me but for the people that I have worked with. I continue to practice and share with others because personally it has worked for me and I have gotten some pretty interesting results from it.
I share it because it is a way of giving hope to others and myself as well. I believe that it is possible to attract and have what you want in life, you just need to do a bit of work. I also believe that you don’t need to follow the conventional rules when it comes to career, lifestyle and so called success.
So I guess this is a work in progress and the aim is to share experiences and learning.
It’s my hope that you will gain something from reading the stories and articles on this site which will help you lead a more fulfilled life with greater joy.
