* “Buku” means “Book” in the Malay language.
Here are some of the books that I have enjoyed reading and have impacted my thinking (and my life).
I love to read and on average consume about 2-3 books a month. Every time I meet with people and friends I’m always talking about an idea I read about or recommending a book. Some of the most successful people in the world are voracious readers too. But since you are reading this your already know that. 😉
Reading is great and for sometime that’s all I did: just read stuff without really taking any action. So I hope that you get the same benefit from reading these books as I did, but please start taking some action once you read them!
THE 4-HOUR WORK WEEK BY TIMOTHY FERRISS
I would have to say that this is the book that started it all for me. I was introduced to this book by a friend was quite prominent in the tech scene here in Malaysia. We were exchanging notes and he mentioned this book to me and the very next day I went out looking for it. This book changed many of the perceptions about life and made me realize that a lot of the constructs that we were made to believe are not really true. Reading this book also gave me the push to go to Vancouver and get my training to become a Certified Law of Attraction Facilitator.
THE POWER OF LESS BY LEO BABAUTA
This is the book that started my minimalism journey. I came to know of the author from a post on Tim Ferriss’s blog (I think). Leo Babauta himself has a simple, minimalist blog with no pictures, yet has more than a million readers. The writing is humble yet at the same time inspiring.
LAW OF ATTRACTION: THE SCIENCE OF ATTRACTING MORE OF WHAT YOU WANT AND LESS OF WHAT YOU DON’T BY MICHAEL LOSIER
This is the book that started my journey to become a Certified Law of Attraction Facilitator.
ABUNDANCE: THE FUTURE IS BETTER THAN YOU THINK BY PETER DIAMANDIS AND STEVEN KOTLER
This book gives you hope for the future and it also tells you the significance of the years 2023 and 2045.
BOLD: HOW TO GO BIG, CREATE WEALTH AND IMPACT THE WORLD BY PETER DIAMANDIS AND STEVEN KOTLER
This book leads off after “Abundance”. We are living in a time where if you have an idea, there is basically nothing that can stop you from bring it to life. This book shows you how to do it. From crowdfunding to 3D printing, it presents all the innovative and disruptive things that are helping today’s entrepreneurs and inspired individuals achieve their dreams.
EXPONENTIAL ORGANIZATIONS: WHY NEW ORGANIZATIONS ARE TEN TIMES BETTER, FASTER AND CHEAPER THAN YEARS (AND WHAT TO DO ABOUT IT) BY SALIM ISMAIL, MICHAEL S. MALONE AND YURI VAN GEEST
Exponential Organizations or ExOs are the wave of the future. Find out where your company ranks in the ExO scale.
FIVE STAR SERVICE: HOW TO DELIVER EXCEPTIONAL CUSTOMER SERVICE (3RD EDITION) BY MICHAEL HEPPELL
One of the fastest (and often inexpensive) ways to differentiate and excel in your industry or job is to deliver outstanding service. This book made realize how important this was. When it comes to ideas there may be a lot of similar ideas, but execution is everything. Those that execute well will have the advantage and gain market share.
